Matka kuuhun (1994–1996)

Matka kuuhun (1994–1996) on 16mm filmille kuvattu valokopioanimaatio. Valmis teos on editoitu Kuvataideakatemian tila-aika -taiteiden laitoksen Betacam-editointiyksikössä. Äänisuunnittelu on tekijän.

Journey to the Moon (1994–1996) is a photocopy animation (16mm, transferred to Betacam video). The final work was edited in the Betacam editing studio of the Department of Time and Space -arts in The Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. Sound design by the artist. (KY)

Kaupunkivaelluksen tuloksena syntyneessä videopäiväkirjassa kokeilin musiikkivideomaista editointia. Teoksesta tuli synkän romanttinen luotaus tulvivan joen ansiosta uppoavalta tuntuvan kaupungin traumaattiseen historiaan. I tried to make a videodiary from Budapest which would be edited like a music video. Instead, it became a gloomy and romantic view on the traumatic history of the 20th century history in Hungary. The images of the flood by the river seems to suggest that the city is sinking.

OMA ELÄMÄ (A LIFE OF ONE' S OWN) (2007)

Kirjoitetun tekstin, abstraktien kuvien ja musiikin avulla kerrottu Oma elämä (2007) on tarina maailmanlopusta. Se kertoo ekologisen katastrofin jälkeisestä maailmasta sekä mielikuvituksen ja todellisuuden rajan ehkä lohdullisesta katoamisesta hetki ennen kuolemaa. A Life of One's Own (2007) depicts a world after a major ecological catastrophe. The story is told by text, the abstract images and music. The link that separates the imagined and real things from each other disappears a moment before the end of the world of one life.

MOOLOK-BAAL (MOLOCH-BAAL) (2009)

Moolok-Baal (2009) viittaa Allen Ginsbergin runoon "Huuto", jossa Moolok merkitsee markkinataloudelle ja kulutusteollisuudelle perustuvaa yhteiskuntaa. Toisin kuin Vanhan testamentin pelottavan ja ihmisuhreja vaativan jumalan kohdalla nyky-Moolokin kitaan mennään mielellään. Moolok-Baal (2009) refers to Allen Ginsberg's poem "Howl", where Moloch represents the conforming features of the capitalism-based consumer society. Rather than fearing the human-eating archaic god depicted in the Old Testament, we love to be eaten by the contemporary Moloch.
